Our Local Work

Our outward-facing work happens in three types of formations: Working Groups, Campaigns, and Branches. All of these formations are member-led, and democratically voted into existence by members at our General Meetings, with annually elected leadership.

We also have several standing committees, specified in our bylaws.

Working Groups

Portland DSA has multiple working groups, which are typically ongoing, perennial formations focusing on specific issues. All members are encouraged to join a working group!

Campaigns

Our chapter-wide campaigns typically organize around legislative issues such as a ballot measure, and are usually temporal in nature.

Branches

Portland DSA currently has 5 geographically-based branches which typically organize around issues specific to their areas. Branch membership is entirely voluntary, and open to members who live in, work in, or have a meaningful connection to branch territory.
